Since 2012, Mary Olberding has served as the Register of Deeds for the 20 cities and towns of Hampshire County. Her mission is to protect the deeds of the past and manage the needs of the future. She spent six years on the Executive Committee of the Massachusetts Registers and Assistant Registers Association, three of which she was elected by her peers to serve as President.
Mary has been an ardent advocate for women’s empowerment, advocating for women’s issues, particularly those in politics. She has volunteered for the Women’s Fund of Western Massachusetts, and served as a member of the Board of Directors for Emerge Massachusetts. She began working with MA Suffrage100 in 2017, including launching a Women’s Equality Day Breakfast and A Celebration of the 19th Amendment on the anniversary of its passage into law.
Mary has recently turned her advocacy to the victims of Domestic Abuse and is a member of TRAC: Together Rising Above Coercion, a statewide organization that works on legislation to enhance improvements to the Probate and Family Court in processing domestic abuse cases.
