Mariana Brandman is a public historian and curator who specializes in U.S. women's history. She is the Sophia Smith Collection Archivist at Smith College where she stewards one of the most extensive and prominent collections of women's history in the country. Dr. Brandman earned her B.A. in history from Yale University and her Ph.D. in history from the University of Chicago. She has worked as a curator, researcher, and archivist at numerous institutions, including the New-York Historical Society, the Chicago History Museum, the University of Chicago Special Collections Research Center, and the National Women's History Museum. She is at work on her first book project, an adaptation of her dissertation: "Take Back the Mic: The Rise of Feminist Stand-Up Comedy in American Culture."
