The Combahee River Collective: Pioneers of Intersectional Feminism

Coming Soon!

The Combahee River Collective – an organization of Black women in Boston, most of whom openly identified as lesbians – played a critical role in the liberation movements of the 1970s. The CRC advocated for a new form of revolutionary politics that addressed multiple, interlocking forms of oppression including racism, sexism, homophobia, and capitalism. Their groundbreaking analysis of identity politics and intersectional feminism, "The Combahee River Collective Statement," (1977) continues to influence social justice advocates worldwide.
